In 2009 we carried out 195,406 operations and treatments, up from 70,000 in 2006. That’s close to triple the number of people treated in just three years!

  • Restore sight and change lives every month - in 2009 we performed 195,406 sight saving eye operations and treatments
  • Train eye health workers - in 2009 we trained 5,878 people, including surgeons, basic eye doctors, eye health nurses and community workers
  • Run screening programs - in 2009 we screened over 1.7 million people!
  • Provide medical equipment - in 2009 we provided $2.5 million worth of equipment such as intraocular lenses (IOLs) and slit lamps
  • Build or upgrade much needed eye health facilities.
